Fast furniture is a growing concept that refers to appealing, inexpensive furniture products that are quickly manufactured, often with a short lifespan. This leads to increased waste and contributes to the ecological crisis we face today.

Although IKEA may come to mind, it is just one example among many in this industry. And might not be the worst. The effect of fast furniture really depends on the choices we make as consumers. Here are some easy things we can all do to tackle this issue: Use existing furniture for as long as possible and repurpose items; Buy second-hand furniture to extend product life cycles; Research and support sustainable brands; Care for your purchases to prolong their longevity; Donate items we no longer need instead of discarding them.

While fast furniture is convenient and budget-friendly, it often lacks durability and accounts for an enormous environmental impact. By making conscious choices, we can contribute to a more sustainable approach to furniture consumption.
