Celebrating with Balloons #25

Why, when we want to celebrate something we have to use balloons? Why does our happiness need to be connected with polluting the environment? And the fact that balloons are connected to positive events makes it hard to argue about them.
It’s high time to consider the lasting impact of releasing balloons at celebrations. Whether it's birthdays, graduations, or cherished traditions, we need to reflect on the consequences of such a brief but impactful celebration.
Guess what? Balloons don’t disappear. They will stay in the sky and either break down into small pieces or travel long distances, polluting streets, parklands, waterways, and, ultimately, oceans, even in the most remote places.
Many wild animals, particularly marine animals like turtles, can mistake balloons for food, which can have devastating consequences for their lives. In addition, balloon strings can entangle animals, leading to painful strangulation and often tragic outcomes.
Let's get creative and make our celebration more meaningful and environmentally friendly by exploring alternative ideas. For example, we could celebrate by planting trees, using local plant seeds in seed cannons, or creating confetti from dried leaves.
And please, let’s avoid the argument about “biodegradable balloons.”
You've been cool'd!
